WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COACHING AND THERAPY? COACHING AND CONSULTING/COUNSELING?

Coaching and Therapy both cause people to see significant improvements in the quality of life. Therapy focuses on what may need to be healed or missing while Coaching focuses on what's right with people, what you want more of.

Therapy often looks into the past, which Coaching is about being with what is now in the present and looking at creating the future.

In Consulting, the Consultant is the expert, offering advice and direction. In Coaching, the client is the expert. The Coach asks powerful questions to facilitate the process, yet the Client has all the answers. =The Coach also provides insight, intuition and states the truth as what they notice or see.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME IN THE COACHING RELATIONSHIP?

The Client is expected to be open to growth and development, committed to change and to striving for what they truly want - to be "coachable".

The Client is responsible for communicating to the Coach when something is not working or when the Coach's style does not suit the Client.

The Client is responsible for making requests of the Coach when necessary. The Coach is responsible for providing a safe space for the Client to communicate whatever is there.
